Wolf Legend Gardaland – The Legend of the Petrified Wolf
Wolf Legend is the thrilling Drop & Twist Tower that premiered at Gardaland in 2024, quickly becoming the summer season's standout attraction. Designed based on direct guest feedback, it was engineered to deliver a punch of adrenaline that is more accessible than the park's "big three" roller coasters, making it a hit for a wide range of visitors.
The ride stands on the site of the historic Sequoia Adventure. In a nostalgic nod to its predecessor, a tribute awaits at the entrance: a carved squirrel and an original section of the old lift chain—a must-see for long-time fans. With its striking octagonal purple tower standing 25 meters tall and weighing roughly 22,000 kg, Wolf Legend is one of the most eye-catching landmarks in the park's central area.
What is a Drop & Twist Tower?
A Drop & Twist Tower is a specialized drop tower that merges two distinct thrill mechanics: the classic vertical free-fall, as seen on Space Vertigo, and a synchronized rotation of the gondola around the tower's axis during the ride cycle.
The result is an experience that isn't over in a single flash. Riders are propelled up and down multiple times, with the gondola spinning repeatedly between drops. Each rotation offers a fresh panoramic view of the park and shifts your perspective for the next plunge, making every cycle feel unique.
The Ride Experience: Drops, Rotations, and Smoke Clouds
Once you board the circular gondola—featuring 16 seats arranged around the octagonal tower—the adventure begins to the sound of a ritualistic chant.
The ascent is slow and suspenseful; the gondola rotates while shimmering symbols and light effects build the tension. Upon reaching the 25-meter peak, the gondola suddenly plunges into the "jaws" of the petrified wolf, passing through thick clouds of smoke that amplify the sensation of falling into the unknown.
But the ritual isn't over. The cycle continues with a sequence of ascents, descents, and spins that build momentum until the final drop. The ride duration depends on the park's daily management:
- Short Cycle: ~1 minute (used during high-attendance days to maximize capacity).
- Full Cycle: Between 1.5 and 2 minutes.

Why Wolf Legend is Different from Space Vertigo
Gardaland has featured a drop tower, Space Vertigo, since 1998, but Wolf Legend is far from a duplicate.
- Space Vertigo is a pure free-fall tower: one single, intense, and concentrated drop.
- Wolf Legend is a Drop & Twist Tower: multiple drops, rotations, a longer duration, and a much deeper storyline.
While Space Vertigo is taller and more intense in that one specific moment, Wolf Legend is longer, more varied, and more inclusive thanks to its lower height requirement.
Who is it for?
Wolf Legend was designed to fill a specific gap in Gardaland’s lineup: a "bridge" attraction for those not yet ready for Oblivion, Raptor or Blue Tornado. The 25-meter drop provides a real thrill, but the lack of inversions and the immersive narrative make it less "extreme" than the main coasters.
It is the perfect choice for older children looking for their first "big" thrill, families with varying bravery levels, and anyone who has outgrown Fantasy Kingdom but isn't quite ready for the major white-knuckle rides.
Access Requirements:
- Minimum Height: 105 cm
- Children (105 cm - 130 cm): Must be accompanied by an adult (max 2 children per adult).
- Restrictions: Not suitable for pregnant women or guests with cardiovascular issues or recent surgeries.
Location & Pro Tips
- Where to find it: Located in the central area, near Shaman and Colorado Boat. The purple tower is easily visible from the Trans Gardaland Express monorail.
- When to ride: With a capacity of ~350 people per hour, lines can get long compared to high-capacity rides like Mammut. We recommend heading there early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
- Cycle Tip: If you want the full experience (multiple drops and rotations), try visiting on weekdays or low-crowd days. On busy weekends, the park often switches to the 1-minute "short cycle" to keep the queue moving.
